Now What?
Արշալույս
Արշալույս - Dusk (Dämmerung / Crépuscule) is a musical-dance soirée as part of a CD launch, which brings works by Komitas, A. Khachaturian and A. Babajanian to the stage. Among others, the "Seven Songs" songs by Komitas will be heard, which tell of the individual's ability to resist and adapt, to build a new life and to mix cultures in order to create a sense of belonging in unknown countries. Tradition and migration merge in a special way. The three artists, Tsovinar Suflyan, Laetitia Kohler, Ivan Yaher, use the performing arts as a bridge and means of connection, in which dialog, criticism, understanding and appreciation for each other have a firm place.

What is a balanced state? Is it something we find for ourselves or in relation to others?
Or both...
com on talks about three individuals searching for a balance. Their goal is to find their personal balance, as well as a stable ground within their trio. It is a zoom in and out from the individual into a bigger picture. They are finding, defining and redefining their identity and needs, through interactions and common activities, discovering along the way that finding stability for oneself seems to be an important first step in connecting with others.
com on is a collaboration between the choreographers and dancers Anja Neukomm, Laetitia Kohler and Naomi Kamihigashi. It is a short dance piece created and premiered on April 15th, 2021 supported by Roxy Theater, Birsfelden, within the frame of Mixed Pickles ♯10.
com on is also the short film once upon a common ground followed with a live performance, which will premiere on November 12th, 2022.

Face it.
How do we find
stability and balance?
And if we find it,
can we keep it?
Face it. is about a group of five individuals facing, together, difficult situations in a limited space. Their goal is to find a stable and balanced state within the group in order to be able to face all situations. They seek to establish a common activity helping them to reach for this balance at all times - a ritual. The public simply witnesses it.
Video Footage: Guillaume Lachat
Editing: Sarah Hammond
Music: Thomas Walschot
Stability doesn't last forever. Naturally a chain reaction effect can disrupt this balance at any time, forcing the group to redefine itself. How can we help each other to restore stability within the group?
In June 2020, a 15 minutes long version of Face it. was shown at Dare & Share Basel. In October 2020, Laetitia Kohler and the artists had a two week residency through Dare & Share Extended, by Tanzbüro Basel. Face it. was Premiered on May 7th 2021 in the frame of Fête de la danse Delémont, and it is currently touring.

Now What?
What is it to be young?
...Are we doing it right?
...Are we wasting it?
In Now What?, we witness two individuals navigating the beauty, uncertainty and urgency of their youth. The piece is a personal account of real-life memories, questions and fears, animated by a unique movement language and partnership. Incorporating elements of playfulness and nostalgia, the duo develops an onstage relationship mirroring that of a childhood friendship; we watch as their paths overlap and intertwine and as the two evolve, reminisce and learn alongside one another.

Now What? is KoHalition's premiere work, it was first conceived, choreographed and performed by Laetitia Kohler and Sarah Hammond and later adapted to another version with Dario Theiler taking over the Sarah's role. The piece is a melding of Kohler and Hammond's diverse artistic visions brought together by their synergistic movement style and original dialogue; it also features original musical composition by Maëva Kohler.
The production has been performed alongside The Basel Dance Academy at Theâtre de La Coupole (St. Louis, FR), for the platforms: DARE & SHARE (Basel, CH) and RAW & POLISHED (Nürnberg, DE), and as part of The Tukatuka Art Project (Schopfheim, DE).
